Claire Cook offers keys to success
01:00 AM EDT on Sunday, October 7, 2007

Robin Kall Homonoff and author Claire Cook help raise breast cancer awareness.
Must Love Dogs author Claire Cook offered insights into becoming a success in your 40s to a group of about 80 women — most of them 40-something.
On Sept. 26, she told the women during a luncheon at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick that it wasn’t until 44 that she published her first novel, which was the best-selling Must Love Dogs. (It was made into a movie in 2005 starring Diane Lane and John Cusack.) Cook, who is 52, published her fourth novel, a comic romance called Life’s A Beach, this summer. At the luncheon, the Scituate, Mass., author said her upcoming fifth novel, Summer Blowout, is about a zany family of hair salon owners and contains a scene set in Providence.
The luncheon brought in $3,200 for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Robin Kall, host of radio’s 5-year-old Reading with Robin on WHJJ 920-AM at 7 a.m. on Saturdays, put together the event to help boost proceeds for the annual walk on Oct. 14 starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Temple to Music in Roger Williams Park.
